Building Together: Two Years as Chairman of ESA
It has been an absolute incredible honor to serve as Chairman of the ESA board of directors for the past 2 years while we celebrated ESA’s 75th Anniversary. I am eternally grateful to have worked alongside dedicated professionals to strengthen the association’s impact. There have been initiatives undertaken during these 2 years including increasing membership, activating National Security Technician Day, active participation in industry conferences, and fostering membership engagement through committee work. We have had great increase in candidates running for board positions and a rise in participation with our Government Advocacy committee and our Executive Management Professional group.
INCREASING MEMBERSHIP:
We launched a new ESA Membership Campaign drive where we had 30 volunteers in 2023 and 40+ volunteers participating in 2024. This was greatly successful as peer-to-peer discussions emphasized the value and benefits of ESA to other industry professionals and colleagues.
We strategically expanded ESA’s membership base by attracting new members from various sectors of the security industry. By highlighting the benefits of ESA membership, such as access to industry resources, networking opportunities, and advocacy efforts, we successfully increased membership and broadened the association’s reach. We are better together.
NATIONAL SECURITY TECHNICIAN DAY:
In a partnership with SIA and F.A.S.T. (Foundation for Advancing Security Talent), we established January 23rd as National Security Technician Day to recognize the dedication and expertise of security technicians. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about their vital role and express gratitude for their tireless efforts. National Security Technician Day garnered widespread support, further solidifying ESA’s position as a champion for security professionals.
FALSE ALARM REDUCTION TECHNOLOGY RESOLUTION:
I am very proud that our ESA Board unanimously came out in support of this resolution to encourage security integrators to partner with their monitoring centers and utilize the current technologies that will help communities across the USA to reduce false dispatches and reduce the wasted taxpayer’s money with unnecessary police requests. Integrators have accepted and activated such technology as text/group chats to quickly communicate with all responsible parties from an alarm site and get a cancellation. Not everyone answers their phone but most everyone responds via texts. This is an everlasting change for the best for our industry.
ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN INDUSTRY CONFERENCES:
ESA actively participated in industry conferences, providing a platform for professionals to exchange knowledge, discuss emerging trends, and address challenges collectively. This involvement demonstrated ESA’s commitment to staying informed and driving positive change within the security industry.
MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT THROUGH COMMITTEE WORK:
To foster membership engagement, we encouraged active participation in ESA committees. These committees allowed members to contribute their expertise, shape industry standards, and collaborate on initiatives.
By involving members in committee work, we ensured that ESA’s efforts reflected the diverse perspectives and needs of its membership.
Strides were made with long everlasting impact by our Leadership Identification & Nomination Committee, Government Relations, Education, Youth Scholarship, Codes & Standards and Membership Campaign committees. A huge thank you to all the members engaged in our Executive Management Professional groups. I know these meetings have helped you shape your companies, your employees and the direction of our industry in the future.
APPRECIATION FOR THE BOARD, COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS AND ESA STAFF:
I want to express my sincere appreciation to the ESA board, staff and industry professionals for their dedication, expertise, and collaborative spirit.
In partnership with the board of directors and the amazing professional staff at ESA, ESA has continued to solidify its position as a leading trade association in the security industry for the past 75 years.
I am certainly excited to watch as ESA continues to play a vital role in its members that safeguard our communities and drive positive change within the security industry.
We have an incredible leader coming is as our next ESA Chairman with Kevin Stone with Doyle Security and I know he will be outstanding with the many new opportunities that are ahead for ESA and our industry.
THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE YOU AND OUR INDUSTRY IN SUCH A MEANINGFUL WAY.
