The ESA presidency requires a tremendous amount of dedication, commitment, travel and sacrifice. On behalf of ESA, I would like to thank our 42nd president, Angela White, for serving the association for the last two years. Angela has sacrificed a great deal for ESA, our members, and our industry as a whole, by providing leadership in this capacity since 2016. An industry veteran, Angela has served as the president of the ESA chapter in Vermont for 11 years, and has been in the trade for more than 30 years.
Her diverse background includes experience as the founder and former owner of Pro-Tech Systems. She holds many alarm licenses and has co-authored pending licensing legislation in the state of Vermont, where she was also the direct liaison to the State Fire Marshal during annual regulatory updates.
During her time as ESA president, Angela has worked to make ESA more nimble and relevant for future generations by supporting initiatives such as the Rising Leaders Professional Group and the ESA Mentorship Program. She has focused on improving technology to make us more efficient and data driven.
She has strived to make ESA more diverse in age and gender. Under her leadership, the first NTS courses in Spanish were created. And as the third woman to hold the position, she continues to lead the way for many in our industry.
In addition to handling her duties as co-owner of Central 1 Security, Angela has remained actively involved in the association by giving her time and efforts selflessly.
During her service as president between 2016 and 2018, NTS was adopted as an equivalent to NICET by regulatory bodies; ESA’s Government Relations department was restructured into Advocacy and Public Affairs; the association’s events had some of the greatest impacts yet; and the EMP Forums were launched.
They say to leave a lasting mark, an association president must leave the association with the capacity to do what it must next. Angela has done that. During her term, the cascade initiative was launched — a process that has reinvigorated volunteer leaders and staff to rally around a core purpose.
Throughout her term, Angela has always treated the staff of ESA with respect and referred to us as professional partners. She gave the association her full attention, while also running a business – a balance that takes great sacrifice to attain.
Her passion for our industry and the people who work in it is evident, and it is clear that she served to make a difference rather than just doing her time.
Even as she continues to make an impact on the association and the industry, Angela praises what the association has done for her by enabling her to do more for others.
“By participating in ESA, I have become a better leader for my company,” she says.
Angela: From all of us at ESA, thank you. You have made not simply a donation of your time, but a difference in our association — and we are forever grateful.
