UPDATED 3/28 — CISA Essential Workers Guidelines Version 2.0 Now Calls Out Industry Specifically

Due to unprecedented executive actions by major city mayors and governors to restrict public movement in cities and some states, we felt it necessary to provide our members with valuable guidance on what the federal government defines as “Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers.”

It is important that those working in critical infrastructure industry continue their special responsibility to maintain normal work schedules — as defined by the the published guidelines from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), this includes our industry.

It is imperative the electronic security and life safety industry maintain its ability to keep vital fire, medical, intrusion, panic and other communication pathways operational.

According to these guidelines, electronic security and life safety installation and monitoring companies fall within the law enforcement, public safety and first responders category.

ESA issued a joint statement with the Security Industry Association (SIA) and The Monitoring Association (TMA) and will be working to advocate that this definition be adapted in each state enacting lockdown measures.
