Recently, changes were made to local Louisiana regulation with R.S. 40:1664.16(C). A major issue we as an industry have had challenges with include local municipalities passing ordinances that charge alarm fines to the companies rather than the customer.

Local ESA chapters and SIAC have fought tirelessly for years to combat these issues.

The state of Louisiana issued an exemption stating that "security firms and its employees and security monitoring firms shall not be subject to or liable for civil penalties and fines assessed or imposed by a municipality or parish for false alarms."

This legislation is a positive step for the industry, but the battle is far from over. It is important to support associations like ESA and SIAC, so that we can help fight for you.
