Early on, he recognized the need for an industry training program and was instrumental in the founding and formation of NTS, serving as an instructor while working to develop the framework of NTS. In 1987, he won the Professional Alarm Technician of the Year award.Taking a leadership role in association activities resulted in a well-deserved 2004 Sara E. Jackson award for his committee leadership including member of the Education and Training Committee (1987-2002), vice chair of the NTS Committee (1993-2003), and chair of the Election Committee (2001-2004).Before there were ESA chartered chapters, Dan served as the 1988 Region 2 vice president. He has served on the national board of directors and has held officer positions in both the Connecticut and New York alarm associations. In 2012, he was appointed to the Security America Risk Retention Group (SARRG) board of directors as a Class C representative. "Dan has certainly paid his dues to our industry. The Sara E. Jackson Award "“ named in honor of ESA's president from 1950-51 "“ goes annually to a committee chairperson who displays outstanding leadership, but Bob McVeigh's role as a leader at ESA extends far beyond his position as chair of the Industry Affairs committee. He also serves as a knowledgeable industry spokesperson on a wide range of topics, and consistently provides insight not only to colleagues, but also to media representatives seeking to make sense of the latest industry news.
During more than 20 years in the industry, McVeigh's career has covered everything from sales operations and marketing to full responsibility for operations. His volunteer work extends beyond ESA; for example, from 2008 to 2010, he served as president of the Connecticut Alarm and Systems Integrators Association (CASIA), which earned Chartered Chapter of the Year under his leadership in 2008.
"ESA is truly fortunate to have Bob McVeigh as a committee chairman, and as one of our most active and influential volunteers," said ESA President Dom D'Ascoli. "He's knowledgeable, he's reliable, he cares about the association, and he stands for everything you could ask for from a volunteer at any level.
