Celebrating First Responders’ Children: Apply for the 2025 ESA Youth Scholarship
Electronic Security Association — January 31, 2025

The Electronic Security Association (ESA) is proud to announce that the 2025 Youth Scholarship Program is officially open for applications. Since its inception in 1996, the program has awarded over $941,500 in scholarships to exceptional high school seniors, honoring the sacrifices and commitment of their parents who serve as police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs.

ESA’s dedication to supporting the first responder community goes beyond its core mission of enhancing public safety through technology. The Youth Scholarship Program was established to give back to these heroic families by investing in the future of their children and helping them achieve their academic dreams. Thanks to the generosity of donors and the tireless efforts of volunteers, the program continues to strengthen the relationship between the security industry and the communities it serves.

Scholarship Chairwoman Kelly Bond, Partner at Davis Mergers and Acquisitions Group, shares, “Through this program, we honor the bravery of those who protect and serve while investing in the future of their children. It’s a testament to how our industry can come together to make a meaningful difference.”

In 2024, the program saw remarkable participation, with nine state associations joining ESA in supporting first responder families. The National First Place Award of $13,500 was awarded to Brady Freundel, the son of a Washington D.C. police officer. Brady, who plans to pursue a career in electrical engineering, expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying, “This scholarship will help me reach my goal of becoming an electrical engineer and relieve some of my financial burden. I am sincerely grateful for ESA’s belief in my potential.”

The Youth Scholarship Program is open to high school seniors across the country. Applicants must submit an essay about the impact of having a parent in the first responder community, among other requirements. With both state and national awards up for grabs, the program is designed to uplift and empower young leaders who are inspired by their parents’ service.

Applications for the 2025 ESA Youth Scholarship Program are due by April 11, 2025. To learn more about the program, eligibility, and how to apply, visit ESAweb.org/scholarship.

Contributions to support the program can also be made online, with donors recognized on the ESA website.
