This year’s event at the Rosen Centre Hotel focused on educational sessions and networking opportunities, with an emphasis on program content that was outside the mainstream of typical industry events.The Summit boasted an impressive roster of speakers from both in and outside of the electronic security industry who brought attendees a wealth of knowledge. The lineup of keynote speakers included Mary Byers, co-author and association consultant; Ted Powell, business consultant and facilitator; Bjorn Jensen and Peter Shipp, leading experts from the custom electronics industry; Steve Bookbinder, CEO of Digital Media Training; and Doug Anson, retired major general of the U.S. Army Reserves. The keynote presentation topics ranged from cyber security to managing successful sales teams to national security post-9/11 and more. In addition to the inspiring keynotes, a number of educational sessions – both free and paid –were available to ESA Leadership Summit attendees. Many sessions were eligible for ESA’s NTS continuing education units (CEUs). Attendees had the opportunity to scope out the latest in security technology at the daily vendor showcases and network with one another during the evening special events. The Silver Reception, which was sponsored by ADI, Altronix and Security America Risk Retention Group, kicked off the event on Jan. 20 and gave attendees a chance to reconnect with peers in a relaxing atmosphere. The Diamond Event, which was sponsored by Interlogix, took on a tropical theme at Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar on Jan. 21. The final day of the Summit featured the Professional Group Roundtables, satisfying those who were seeking to swap best practices with like-minded professionals; and the Closing Reception, sponsored by Security America Risk Retention Group, where attendees wrapped up the week with their new connections and supported fundraising efforts for ESA of Florida’s Youth Scholarship Program during the live/silent auction.
