ESA Mourns Paul BaranIt is with profound sadness that we announce to all of our security industry colleagues that Paul F. Baran died suddenly on November 23, 2010 at his residence. He was 58.Paul was an avid supporter and an outstanding member of the Electronic Security Association. Since 1994, he was actively involved in the ESA Education Committee, serving as co-chairman for many years. Additionally, he served as the Education Committee Chairman for both the Pennsylvania Burglar & Fire Alarm Association and the New Jersey Burglar & Fire Alarm Association. In recognition of his outstanding leadership as an ESA committee chairperson, Paul was awarded the Sarah E. Jackson Memorial award in 2006.A lifetime resident of Bensalem, PA, Paul enjoyed reading, computers, electronics, woodworking, home improvements and being with his family. He worked for more than 30 years as a security consultant, including as an aviation security assessor for the Department of Homeland Security and also as a Bensalem police officer for a brief time.He is survived by his wife, Carolyn R. (Marchione) Baran; three sons, John (Ruthann), Michael (Kimberly) and Christopher P. Baran; two grandchildren, Alyssa and Meadow Baran; his father, Adolph Baran and brother Ronald Baran (Ellen). Paul was an avid supporter and an outstanding member of the Electronic Security Association. Since 1994, he was actively involved in the ESA Education Committee, serving as co-chairman for many years. Additionally, he served as the Education Committee Chairman for both the Pennsylvania Burglar & Fire Alarm Association and the New Jersey Burglar & Fire Alarm Association.
