There are several places you can look to find out when your NTS Certification(s) expire. The expiry date is shown on your Certification certificate which you can view in your learning portal (see above).
All ESA/NTS certifications are valid for a period of 24 months following the completion of a course of study. Certification is maintained through attendance at industry related continuing education activities. Maintaining ESA/NTS certifications requires certificate holders to earn 24 continuing education units/hours (CEUs) (the equivalent of 24 classroom hours) each renewal cycle.
Education or activities covering the electronic life safety, security and systems integration industry are eligible for ESA/NTS CEUs. Please note that proper evidence of training or activity must be submitted in order for the CEUs to be accepted.
Other activities such as instruction and volunteering must be submitted with a letter (on letter head) from the entity that hosted the activity. For example, for service on a committee to be approved, the certification holder must provide a letter from the organization that confirms committee participation.
Please see Qualifying Activities for more information.
Click here for the Certification Renewal Form. It outlines the renewal process and provides pricing information.
ESA/NTS sends out reminder emails to notify you when it is time to renew your certification. You can also log into your learner profile to check the status of your NTS Certifications.
Do I need to renew my NTS certification if my state doesn’t require me too? Why should I? Maintaining your NTS Certification(s) will help you to continuously develop your skills and knowledge and to maintain a competitive edge. Keeping your certification active will prevent you from having to retake foundational courses and focus on learning new skills and concepts.
At the end of each online course, you can print your site-generated certificate. You can also come back and reprint that certificate from your Transcript page.
Information about the ESA/NTS certifications can be found on the Certification page.
