Federal Government Accounting Mandate Bad for Small BusinessesESA supports repeal measure currently pending in Congress
Irving Texas (August 11, 2010) – The Electronic Security Association (ESA) is urging the U.S. House of Representatives to pass H.R. 5141, the Small Business Paperwork Mandate Elimination Act before the end of this session in Congress.
H.R. 5141 would repeal Section 9006 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (the health care bill) which requires data collection and information filing on virtually all business-to-business transactions of $600 or more. Without the passage of H.R. 5141, this burdensome paperwork mandate will become effective in 2012.
“The economy has not recovered and yet small businesses that are vital to its recovery are being asked by our federal government to take on an additional and unnecessary burden. As a business owner, I’m concerned because this mandate was slipped into the 2,002-page health care legislation and will add mountains of paperwork,” said ESA President Dom D’Ascoli.
ESA is asking its members, other industry business owners and their vendors to support the association’s efforts by submitting letters to their U.S. House members. The letter requests that representatives co-sponsor HR 5141 and encourages its passage before the end of this Congressional session.

“You can’t sit on the sidelines for this one,” D’Ascoli said. “We need every bit of help we can get to ensure the federal government is reined in when it comes to creating policies on the backs of hard-working small business owners.”
