Sandy Springs residents and businesses who use alarm systems to protect lives and property will have to invest millions of dollars in new equipment to continue to receive police response under the city’s controversial and reportedly confusing alarm ordinance set to go into effect on June 19, 2019.

School security and safety related bills dominated the state legislative activity for the last two months. There were 82 bills that were introduced or moved during this time and many of these bills will provide for infrastructure improvements that include electronic security, access control, video surveillance and other measures designed to protect children and staff in schools, if passed.
